The first leg of our journey took us through Arizona. We made a little detour to the Mesa-Phoenix airport to pick up Joey and Benji who had flown in to join us from a youth church camp in Utah. (Shout out to Nikki for taking good care of them for me!)

We spent the night outside of Tucson and then made our way to the historic town of Tombstone, once a major hub of the Southwest because of mining crowds it attracted.

We walked up and down the authentic looking Allen Street, watched a movie about the town’s history, drank some sarsaparilla, visited the old courthouse, and of course had to watch the re-enactment of the famous shootout at O.K. Corral between the Earp Brothers, Doc Holliday, and some rowdy cowboys who didn’t like being told what to do.

We’ve decided to utilize media along the way that helps us connect with the area we are visiting. Here are some of the things we listened to while driving through Arizona:

Audiobook: Esperanza Rising

Music: Johnny Cash, the Eagles
