• This is our beloved Class A Motorhome Dolly. She has taken us on many adventures and has housed us when we were homeless. She came to us used and abused, but with a little TLC and a lot of $$$, she has proven to be a trusty and reliable companion for our adventures. She went a long time without a name, but with some not-so-flattering nicknames like “The Beast,” “The Taj-ma-Heath,” “The Flying Turd….” You get the drift. We finally decided it was time for a respectable name and held a family vote. Everyone submitted an idea and was able to vote for their 3 favorites. The choices were:
  • Big Bertha
  • Old Betsy
  • Clementine
  • Sydney
  • Mollie
  • Dolly
  • Caroline
  • I was very happy that Dolly won (who wants to be named “Big Bertha”???), especially because of my Dolly Parton super-fan status.
  • Although I love Dolly, driving her is not my favorite thing. I imagine it to be like steering Shamu would be (maybe that would have been a more appropriate name). She is big and bulky and catches the wind like a giant sail, so it’s a two handed job with no letting your guard down. After a few hours of driving, your arms, neck, and back are sore.
  • Chad is a pro, especially driving her around the city, and she and I have gradually gotten a feel for each other as we’ve made our way across the south. We both like smooth, flat, wide, empty highways.
  • We love our Dolly and here’s to her keeping us safe on our odyssey!
