“Deep in the Heart of Texas…” The landscape when we entered Texas was flat, fairly dry, and covered in oil pumps, but as we headed south it turned into green rolling hills. Along the gulf coast, there are bayous and grassy dunes. It is a beautiful and diverse state!

Other facts:

Texans like to drive fast. I drove Dolly white-knuckled down two-lane 75 mph highways with giant tractors appearing out of nowhere and big trucks passing you over double yellow lines.

Texas is crazy humid. We are all literally dripping after a few minutes outside. I’m sure we are not a pleasant smelling group of tourists.

Also, in other news, I’ve discovered an activity that should not be done in a moving RV: haircuts.

Lilly’s hair was driving me crazy. She has fought cutting it because she loves her long locks, but they easily turn into nasty dreads while traveling, and not the cool kind. I bought some (dull) barber scissors in a small town Texas dollar store and proceeded to chop it off during our bumpy, swaying drive. I kept yelling at her to hold still, but realized that was a futile request in a moving vehicle. It turned out okay under the circumstances and life has been much easier with the shorter do.
